QI Machine Tool Orders Up, But Investment Obstacles Remain

The AMT said year-to-date machine tool orders through March 2012 were $1.36 billion, up 12.9% compared with 2011. The AMT noted that a lack of access to credit, encroaching regulations and taxes and overall political uncertainty remain as future investment obstacles.

Machine Tool Orders ‘Off to Best Start Since 1998′

February machine tool orders were up 35% compared to the same month in 2011. Association of Manufacturing Technology president Douglas K. Woods noted that “manufacturing technology orders are off to their best start since 1998.”

2011 Machine Tool Orders Highest in Over Decade

The AMT and AMTDA reported 2011 machine tool orders were $5.5 billion, up 66.4% compared with 2010. AMT president, Douglas K. Woods, noted that machine tool orders finished its strongest year in over a decade.

YTD Machine Tool Orders Up 73.9% From 2010

The AMTDA and AMT reported 2011 November and YTD machine tool orders were $430 million and $4,957 million, respectively up 26.6% and 73.9% compared to the same periods in 2010. The report noted “backlogs are very healthy and growing longer.”

September Machine Tool Orders 2nd Highest in Last 15 Years

According to a recent report from the AMTDA and AMT, September 2011 machine tool orders totaled $606.6 million, up almost 52% compared to the same quarter in 2010. September’s numbers were the second highest monthly total in the last 15 years.

According to the AMTDA and AMT, machine tool orders in July were up 92.7% compared to the same month in 2010. Year-to-date orders of almost $3.0 billion were up approximately 103% compared to the same year ago period.
