According to a filing, Caterpillar reported for its three-month rolling period ended in June, global machinery sales were down 10% compared to the same period a year earlier. In North America, Caterpillar said that average three-month sales through June were up 14%, continuing a string of increases through May and April of 14% and 12%, respectively.
Caterpillar also reported that its three-month rolling average of Resources Industry sales, which includes mining machinery, was down 38% worldwide – includes declines of 53%, 51% and 53% for Asia/Pacific, EAME and Latin America, respectively. North American three-month average sales were up 9%, continuing a string of increases of 7% and 3% for the prior periods of May and April, respectively.
Caterpillar said the information is provided by unaudited reports from Caterpillar dealers that are intended to convey an approximate indication of the trends, direction and magnitude of retail sales.
