Caterpillar North American Machinery Sales Rise 11% in July



Caterpillar reported that its total global machinery sales fell 9% on a three-month rolling basis in July compared with the same period in 2013, which was an improvement from a 10% decline in June and a 12% drop in May.

In North America, Caterpillar said machinery sales were up 11% in July on the same basis compared to 14% in June and May. The machinery maker said July sales were down 29%, 23% and 16% in its Asia/Pacific, Latin America and EAME regions, respectively.

Caterpillar also reported that its total global mining equipment sales were down 33% globally in July compared to declines of 38% and 46% for the months of June and May. However, in North America, mining equipment sales were up 4% in July following increases of 9% and 7% in June and May, respectively.
