FreightCar America Appoints Manufacturing VP

FreightCar America said it has named Robert S. Andress as vice president, manufacturing. He will lead the company’s new car manufacturing activities at Roanoke, VA and Danville, IL.

Andress joins FreightCar America from Wabtec, where in his most recent role he was vice president of its global transit business. Prior to his tenure at Wabtec, he held business and operations leadership roles with companies that included VAE Nortrak and Delphi Automotive.

Terry Heidkamp, senior vice president, operations, said, “We are pleased that Bob has agreed to join FreightCar America. He possesses extensive leadership experience within the rail and automotive industries and has a proven track record of utilizing lean manufacturing processes to achieve significantly improved performance. I look forward to working with Bob to produce similar results at FreightCar America”
