Caterpillar Global Construction Equipment Retail Sales Improve for February Period



Caterpillar reported global retail sales of construction industry machines for the three-month rolling period ended February 2017 were up 2% compared to 8% and 12% declines for the previous three-month periods ended January 2017 and December 2016, respectively. Caterpillar noted that the Asia/Pacific region was up 52% compared to the same three-month period in 2016.

North America construction industry machine retail sales were down 9% year-over-year in February 2017 compared to declines of 13% and 16% for the previous three month periods ended in January 2017 and December 2016.

Global retail sales of mining equipment for the three-month rolling period ended February 2017 were down 7% compared to declines of 7% and 10% for the previous three-month periods ended Janaury 2017 and December 2016, respectively.

North America mining industry retail sales were down 12% for the three-month period ended in February 2017 compared to declines of 14% and 4% for the previous three-month periods ended in January 2017 and December 2016.
