Caterpillar Retail Machinery Sales Off 21% Worldwide



Caterpillar reported a 21% drop in total worldwide machinery retail sales for the rolling three-month period ending in February 2016. Resources Industries, which includes mining, was down 42% in retail sales for the same rolling three-month period ending in February 2016.

Construction equipment worldwide retail sales for the three-month rolling period ended February 2016 were down 12% compared to the same period one year earlier. The largest decrease of 42% was reported for Latin America region over the same rolling period noted above.

Global Energy and Transportation retail sales, which encompasses power generation, industrial, transportation and oil and gas sector retail sales decreased 39% with the largest decline of 60% reported for the transportation sector.
