Monitor and monitordaily publisher Jerry Parrotto welcomes users to the fifth iteration of the monitordaily website.

It is with a sense of renewed enthusiasm that we launch this newest version of monitordaily. This is our fifth iteration of the website that was first introduced to the equipment finance industry back in 1996.

One of the hallmarks of monitordaily has always been our daily news postings, which spawned our e-news broadcast that has run uninterrupted for about 18 years. But as technology has advanced, so too have the needs and interests of our website visitors. Thus we welcome you to this latest variation of what we believe is our best effort yet to broaden the scope of our content and delivery to be more in tune with the reality of today’s website visitor.

Before I walk you through some of the unique features of this latest version of our website, let me first provide some background and history on the development of the “new” monitordaily:

Genesis of monitordaily Upgrade

Not surprisingly, website design and development, like everything else, is moving forward at a rapid pace. Access to website content, for example, has taken on characteristics I never would’ve contemplated even just five years ago. Did you ever think that everyone, yes, I said everyone, would be so mobile and yet never miss a beat of connectivity because of an iPhone or Galaxy.

For me it all started about three years ago while I was waiting in line at StarBucks – I was looking around and suddenly realized everyone had their heads down and was peering at a little screen on a device that was nestled in their hands. This event prompted us to launch MonitorMobile, a free app to support both iOS and Android devices. But the data kept telling us we needed to be one step closer. We needed to have a website that automatically adapted to the device of choice with no regard to size or type. It had to be convenient, which meant it had to be seamless – no need to go to iTunes and download an app. The new monitordaily had to be “adaptive” to be relevant, which led to the adoption of “Hybrid Responsive” architecture to make sense.

“Responsive” Design

This new feature reflects the shift in how visitors were accessing the content of the monitordaily website. An analysis showed an increasing number of our website visitors were using a hand-held device to access content. The expectation that this trend will continue prompted the introduction of an adaptive display concept that recognizes the user’s device and automatically adapts the delivery of the content to suit the individual’s preference. So whether you are viewing on a desktop with a 21-inch monitor or an iPhone with a 4.5-inch viewing area, the content is delivered in a device-friendly format.

Opinion

This new feature was designed to facilitate engagement by providing you with direct access to some of the thought leaders in the industry. Our objective is to focus on the mainstream functions within a typical equipment finance company – sales/marketing, asset management, credit/underwriting, pricing/structuring, technology/operations, etc. – as well as provide insights from those in the fields of best practices and performance improvement.

New Features

In addition to having access to most of the exclusive content that has appeared in our print and digital magazines since 2010, new content that we believe is more suitable for online viewing will also be available for the very first time. And, you don’t want to miss our archive of exclusive executive profiles that provide insights into an industry leader’s path to success.

An enhanced global search feature improves navigation to ensure you’re only one click away from finding a feature story, article or profile that’s in tune with your area of interest.
