The American Banker reports Walter J. Owens, who has led TD Bank’s commercial banking and specialty lending units, has left the company. The report cites two sources that asked they not be identified. No official reason was given for his departure by the company.
Owens began his career in 1982 at Deloitte and held leadership positions at GE Capital and CIT where he joined its chief sales officer and part of Jeffrey Peek’s management team. Owens joined TD Bank in 2008 to head its U.S. commercial banking efforts six months after TD Bank acquired Commerce Bank. At TD, Owens oversaw various business lines including commercial real estate, asset-based lending, corporate lending, auto finance, equipment leasing and healthcare finance.
