by Vol. 48 No. 3 2021

Alyssa May,
Senior Financial Analyst ,
Volvo Financial Services USA

Alyssa May supports the commercial sales teams within Volvo Financial Services’ truck and construction channels by performing data analysis, forecasting and internal reporting.
She translates numbers into useful information the business can use to achieve goals. She also maintains and improves data visualization tools and reporting.

During her time at VFS, May earned her MBA, with a concentration in business analytics. She chose this discipline to develop her ability to transform data into meaningful insights. She also was among the first VFS employees to earn Salesforce Administrator credentials, which has allowed her to improve data integrity and implement process automations.

“In our industry, I believe it is valuable to have a growth mindset — both personally and professionally,” May says. “I’ve been able to accomplish my goals and grow within my profession through hard work and an eagerness to learn. Although my industry experience spans just six years, the integration of my continuing education has afforded me opportunities to serve as a trusted advisor on multiple projects.”

May also has her eye on improving diversity, equity and inclusion within the equipment finance industry.

“While I have witnessed the growth of diversity in our industry in recent years, I believe there is still room for improvement,” May says. “It is necessary to have voices representing various ages, races, genders and backgrounds to bring unique perspectives to the table and challenge the status quo. As a young woman entering the industry, I often found myself in the minority. It took time to realize my different viewpoint is a strength, not a hindrance. Viewing the business through different lenses will continue to prove invaluable to VFS and the equipment financing industry as a whole.”
