Banks are still tightening. Here’s the data.

The Fed’s Senior Loan Officer Survey reveals the net percentage of banks tightening credit to various audiences. Moving through the first quarter, we saw a tightening fall of a historic period of tightening, presenting an optimism that loosening may be on the horizon or at least a continued fall in the pace of tightening.  Unfortunately, the April data shows a slight increase in tightening.

Only ten times since 1990 has the survey reported this level of credit tightening, but it’s the fourth time in the last four years. Ensuring your lender relationships are stable remains paramount right now.
