POSITION SUMMARY

The COO will serve as a key partner to the CEO and CFO, responsible for executing the company’s strategic vision through operational excellence, advanced credit risk management, portfolio performance, and integrated systems. This individual will oversee credit operations, servicing, collections, portfolio analytics, systems architecture, software platforms, and overall back-office efficiency. The COO will be expected to build and scale world-class systems, processes, and teams capable of supporting a high-growth lending platform with a strong focus on risk-adjusted returns, automation, partner satisfaction, and sustainable profitability and ROE.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Operations

  • Build and implement predictive credit models and scorecards to enable fast, consistent, and profitable lending decisions
  • Standardize underwriting policies, processes, and thresholds across loan and lease products
  • Align credit risk and pricing models to ensure profitable, scalable originations
  • Establish feedback loops from portfolio data to continuously improve credit models and approval criteria

Portfolio Management

  • Develop comprehensive portfolio analytics dashboards and early warning systems
  • Oversee customer service, collections, and asset management teams with a focus on reducing delinquencies, charge-offs, and recovery timelines
  • Track and manage portfolio KPIs including delinquency trends, static pool performance, LGD, and recovery metrics
  • Create frameworks for managing higher-risk borrowers, workout programs, and account restructures

Technology & Systems Oversight

  • Own the roadmap and performance of core systems (CRM, LOS, LMS, document management, e-signature, and integrations)
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of technologies that reduce friction and improve visibility, tracking, and compliance
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, consultants, software providers, and data providers
  • Champion a “systems first” culture—prioritizing digitization, documentation, and end-to-end workflow automation

Operational Excellence

  • Develop, document, and continuously optimize SOPs for every operational process
  • Drive cross-functional alignment between teams and departments
  • Implement KPI dashboards and accountability systems for each operational unit
  • Lead strategic initiatives to reduce time to fund, increase loan pull-through rates, and lower operating cost per funded deal

Organizational Leadership

  • Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing leaders and contributors across all operational functions
  • Foster a culture of ownership, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
  • Act as a mentor and leadership coach to department heads and rising talent
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and leadership team, helping shape strategy and driving alignment throughout the organization

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: 10+ years in senior operational or credit leadership roles within specialty finance, commercial lending, or fintech

Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of credit risk, underwriting, and servicing for non-prime or alternative credit borrowers

Systems: Hands-on experience with CRM, LOS, LMS, and automation software; proven track record of leading tech deployments

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams, develop talent, and lead through influence and results

Analytical Ability: Advanced proficiency in using data to drive decision-making, measure risk, and optimize performance

Execution: Strong bias for action with a track record of scaling operations and implementing process discipline

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced quantitative degree (e.g., MS Finance, Data Science) preferred
