One of the largest, well established third party private label servicers of commercial and consumer leases and loans across the U.S. and Canada is seeking to hire a Tax Manager for their headquarters location in Portland, Oregon.
In this position you would have overall responsibility for compliance with all state and local sales, use and personal property tax, and business licensing regulations for the jurisdiction in which the serviced portfolios do business. You would supervise the Tax staff, currently comprised of eight (8) Tax personnel responsible for preparing and filing in excess of 20,000 sales/use and personal property tax returns annually across the U.S. and Canada. You would report directly to the President of the enterprise and be a member of the Executive Committee.
Specific Job Skills Required:
Understanding of the legal language of the tax laws and the possibility of financial penalties or adverse impact upon customer relations from misinterpretation of the law.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Strong analytical, data formatting and reconciliation skills.
Ability to learn the following computer software programs: Microsoft family of products, Vertex and PTMS (Property Tax Management System).
Basic general ledger accounting knowledge.
Intermediate accounting skills
Advanced Excel skill required (V lookups, pivot tables, some macros)
Education and/or Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of multistate sales/use and property tax experience; or Associates degree with eight (8) years of the previously noted experience.
