Culture of Innovation – Eastern Funding

Nancy Robles, President, Eastern Funding

Investing into its employees’ mental health and promoting DE&I efforts is Eastern Funding’s way of nurturing innovation and creating a culture that values its people.

Eastern Funding has financed more than $3 billion in transactions since its formation in 1997. A financial lender to small and medium size businesses, it serves many markets including commercial laundry, car wash, tow and recovery, grocery and health and wellness.

At Eastern Funding, innovation means being forward thinking and recognizing that in an evolving economy, environment and society, it must evolve as well. Eastern Funding partnered with Wellbeing Works, to create a mental health initiative designed to introduce and provide new tools and resources to help employees. Its leadership focuses on normalizing conversation around therapy, wellbeing and psychological safety. Because innovation happens in a safe space, Eastern Funding’s employees are given room to grow and fail forward, understanding that a team will be there to catch them. The company’s leadership team holds the belief that trust and human connection are the highest priorities in business.

Through the years, Eastern Funding’s leadership has invested in developing, retaining and reinforcing a culture that is employee centric. In addition, there has always been an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion through talent procurement and advancement, which has contributed to the success of the company. With support from its parent company, Brookline Bank, Eastern Funding created a DE&I committee with specific goals in the areas of customers, community, culture, talent and services. Through its investments into its employees, Eastern Funding is creating a foundation for innovation.

“Just because something worked in the past, that doesn’t mean it is the answer for today’s or tomorrow’s challenges.”
