ACT Research: August Used Class 8 Truck Volumes Up M/M, Y/Y

According to ACT Research, used Class 8 truck same dealer sales volumes continued to show volatility in August, yet remained on a positive trend, including a 19% increase over July. Additionally, long-term comparisons show 2016 being off by only 2% year-to-date.

“Higher than normal late summer sales could signal truck buyers are opting to purchase used trucks over new ones,” said Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president of the commercial vehicle sector. “Strong sales were a common theme across all three market segments, with retail posting a 12% increase month-over-month, and wholesale and auction improving 33% and 59% month-over-month, respectively.”
