ACT Research: Used Truck Volumes Held Steady in November

November preliminary Class 8 same dealer used truck retail sales volumes held steady, slipping 1.3% month over month, according to the latest preliminary release of the State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks published by ACT Research.

“Given that typical seasonality called for a decrease of 18% M/M, the small dip was a big win. Preliminary auction activity declined 11% from October while wholesale transactions forged ahead 7%,” Steve Tam, vice president at ACT Research, said. “Combined, sales fell 4.7% M/M. While it is too soon to know for certain, it is possible that fleets waiting on presidential election results may have been a part of the driving force behind better-than-expected sales volumes.”
