Air Lease Delivers First Airbus A350 XWB to Malaysia Airlines

Air Lease delivered its first Airbus A350 XWB aircraft, on lease to Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB). This aircraft is the first of six new A350-900s leased to the airline, with the additional five aircraft delivering through Q3/18 from ALC’s order book with Airbus.

“ALC could not be more pleased to announce this milestone delivery of our first A350 XWB. We are honored to have Malaysia Airlines Berhad as our first customer and look forward to further building out the marketplace with this game-changing aircraft,” said John L. Plueger, Air Lease Corporation’s chief executive officer and president.

“We have worked closely with Malaysia Airlines Berhad on this six-aircraft transaction as they roll out a major widebody fleet upgrade. We are confident that these six A350 XWB aircraft leased to MAB will benefit their global business operations,” said Jie Chen, Air Lease Corporation’s executive vice president and managing director, Asia.

Malaysia Airlines CEO Izham Ismail said, “We are very pleased to work with Air Lease Corporation on this strategic transaction. The A350 XWB is the most technologically advanced aircraft and we are confident that it will deliver exceptional passenger comfort and improve the overall efficiency of our fleet.”
