American Bank Promotes Roher and Smith to Executive Team

American Bank, a financial institution offering both personal and business banking services in Dallas, named William Roher executive vice president and chief lending officer and Zane Smith executive vice president and chief risk officer.

With more than 30 years of experience, Roher will lead the bank’s commercial and business lending efforts. He will take on the responsibility of overseeing the management and development of all commercial real estate and construction, residential and SBA lending as chief lending officer. Before joining American Bank, Roher served in various senior leadership positions at AccessBank Texas, Northstar Bank of Texas, First United Bank & Trust and SouthTrust Banks.

As the chief risk officer, Smith will be responsible for assisting the bank’s board with setting the strategic risk direction of the bank through the implementation of a bank-wide enterprise risk management program. Smith will also oversee the bank’s credit, compliance and technology groups and manage the bank’s loan portfolio.

Smith joined American Bank in 2020 following an eight-year career as a commissioned national bank examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He is a certified enterprise risk professional, a certified community bank risk specialist, a certified information systems auditor and a national bank examiner.

“We are excited to have William and Zane join the executive team and feel that their input will continue to equip American Bank for a bright future,” Jeff Weaver, CEO and president of American Bank, said. “William’s experience and skill set will be invaluable to American Bank, and we look forward to seeing continued growth under his leadership as chief lending officer. Similarly, building on the momentum of Zane’s contributions to the team over the past couple of years, we readily welcome his guidance in managing the growth and risk profile of the bank.”
