ACT Research reported used Class 8 truck same dealer sales volumes ended their upward trend in April, while year-to-date volumes fell for the fourth consecutive month.

“April Class 8 used truck volumes fell by 3% month-over-month and year-over-year, ending their upward trek, while year-to-date declines continued for a fourth consecutive month, down 4% from April 2015,” said Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president of the commercial vehicle sector. “Dealers are reporting that used truck sales remain below 2015 levels and inventories have risen, while used truck prices continue to drop. The average price of used Class 8 trucks improved by 4% month-over-month during the same period, but remained 8% lower when compared to April of 2015.”

The report from ACT provides data on the average selling price, miles and age based on a sample of industry data. In addition the report provides the average selling price for top-selling Class 8 models for each of the major truck OEMs – Freightliner (Daimler), Kenworth and Peterbilt (PACCAR), International (Navistar) and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
