According to Baker Hughes, the latest U.S. latest rig count was 1,067, up 154 or 16.9% from 913 at the same time last year.
The 1,067 rigs were comprised of 873 oil related and 194 gas related, up from 736 and 177, respectively at end of the same period in 2017.
The data showed that Texas with 540 rigs, up from 436 last year, accounted for 51% of total rigs in the U.S.
Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944.
