Caterpillar: Construction Retail Sales Improve, Mining Equipment Mounting Comeback



Caterpillar reported global retail sales of construction industries machinery for the three-month period ended May 2017 were up 11% compared with the same period in 2016. The machinery maker noted that the Asia/Pacific region was up 52% compared to the same period one-year ago.

North American construction industries machine retail sales were up 4% for the three month period ended in May 2017, having dropped 4% and 6% for the three month periods ended in April and March, respectively compared to the same periods in one-year ago.

Global mining equipment retail sales were down 3% for the May three month period, after dropping 19% and 19% for the three month periods ended in April and March, respectively compared to last year.

North American mining industry retail sales were down 3% for the May three month period after dropping 13% and 34% in April and March, respectively compared to 2016.
