Caterpillar Global Retail Machine Sales up 25%, Led by Resource Industries



Caterpillar reported a 25% increase in retail machine sales worldwide for the three-month rolling period ended in June 2018, which follows increases of 24% and 28%, respectively, for the same periods in May and April compared to the same periods in 2017.

The Asia/Pacific region provided the largest increase of 37% for the period, with increases of 29%, 22% and 19% attributable to Latin America, North America and EAME, respectively.

Resource Industries (mining, quarry, waste and material handling equipment) was up 34% worldwide with major contributions coming from Latin America (57%), EAME (51%) and North America (34%). The Asia/Pacific region accounted for a 1% increase following a decline of 3% in May and an increase of 40% in April 2018.

The Construction Equipment Industries were up 24% worldwide with the largest contribution coming from the Asia/Pacific region (44%) followed by North America (21%), Latin America (18%) and EAME (11%).
