Caterpillar Reports 33% Increase in Sales, Resource Industries Up 60%



Caterpillar reported a 33% increase in worldwide machine sales for the three-month rolling period ended in February 2018. All four regions in the report experienced at least a 30% increase in sales, with North America recording a 30% increase exactly. Asia/Pacific earned the high-water mark at 41%.

Worldwide Resource Industries sales experienced a larger increase (60%) compared to Construction (27%), with North America credited with a 62% jump. The worldwide improvement marked an 11% boost from the reading in January.

As for Construction, North America helped carry an increase with a 25% uptick in sales in the region. Asia/Pacific led the way with a 36% improvement.

Energy & Transportation sales for the three-month period ended in February 2018 also improved, rising 21%. The increase was powered primarily by Oil & Gas (up 29%) and Power Generation (up 19%).
