According to U.S. District Court of New Jersey documents, Bruce Donner, owner of Donner Medical Marketing, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in a $135 million medical equipment leasing Ponzi scheme that defrauded lenders out of at least $80 million.
Donner pleaded guilty last fall to one count of mail fraud under a plea agreement with prosecutors under which he agreed to cooperate with investigators in their case against co-conspirator Charles K. Schwartz, president of Allied Healthcare Services (Allied) and C&C, Inc., a medical equipment distributor. For his role in the fraud, Schwartz pleaded guilty and was sentenced last November to 16 years in prison.
