ELFA Selects Huntington’s Elliott for 2020 Distinguished Service Award

The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association selected Jeffry D. Elliott to receive its 2020 Michael J. Fleming Distinguished Service Award. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the association and the equipment finance industry. Elliott, who is senior managing director of Huntington Asset Finance, a division of The Huntington National Bank, will be recognized during the ELFA 2020 Business LIVE! virtual conference on Oct. 27-28.

“We are delighted to present this honor to Jeff in appreciation of his outstanding contributions,” Ralph Petta, president and CEO of the ELFA, said. “I personally have had the pleasure to get to know Jeff over the years. His dedicated volunteer spirit and leadership in so many areas have had a positive impact on our association, the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation and the industry as a whole.”

“I am appreciative and honored to receive such a prestigious award,” Elliott said. “ELFA has meant so much to me professionally and personally over the years. It has been a privilege to actively engage with exceptional industry leaders and ELFA staff who dedicate themselves to the betterment of the industry. Thank you ELFA for making it possible to serve the industry that I love and build lifelong personal relationships. I look forward to many more years of service.”

Elliott has been an active member of the ELFA for many years, contributing to the mission of the association in a number of key areas. He has served on a range of member committees, including the Financial Institutions Business Council Steering Committee, the leadership body representing ELFA member bank-related organizations. He is a champion of the association’s business and professional development programs, serving as a frequent speaker and facilitator at ELFA conferences. He has helped to plan numerous industry events, including serving on the National Funding Conference Planning Committee.

He is a regular participant in Capitol Connections, an annual event held in Washington, D.C., to advocate for and educate members of Congress about the equipment finance industry.

In addition to his work with ELFA, Elliott is active with the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation. He is the immediate past chair of the foundation and has served on the foundation board of trustees for the past seven years. He is a donor, former chair of the Foundation Research Committee and recipient of the foundation’s 2019 Steven R. LeBarron Award for Principled Research. Elliott is a current member of the foundation’s Editorial Review Board, Nominating, Academic Outreach and National Development Committees. As an industry thought leader, Elliott has lent his insights to essential foundation reports, including those on lender finance, corporate aviation, energy, credit and new technologies. He also spearheaded the development of the foundation’s Vertical Market Series.

Elliott joined Huntington in 2001 as part of the newly established Huntington Equipment Finance Division. In his current role, he leads Huntington Public Capital, which focuses on lending to the municipal, university, school and hospital entities, and more recently launched the renewable energy finance group that focuses on solar, wind, battery and other renewable energy generation projects. Elliott’s role includes acting head of strategy and corporate development for Huntington Asset Finance. In that capacity, he has been responsible for product and marketing strategy, development of new products initiatives, and mergers and acquisitions within Huntington Asset Finance.
