Fed: Negative Interest Rates Not Worth Ramifications



The Wall Street Journal reported that the Federal Reserve has decided that negative interest rates are not worth the detrimental effects they could bring.

The Journal noted that the Fed has indicated that they will consider negative interest rates only as a last resort.

Negative rates would hurt bank’s ability to turn a profit, and according to the Journal, the Fed would prefer stimulus measures such as purchasing Treasury and mortgage securities.
