GE Capital Aviation Services delivered a new, leased Airbus A320neo to Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras to expand and modernize the carrier’s fleet.
The Airbus A320neo aircraft, powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines, is the first of eight scheduled for delivery to Azul by the end of 2019. All eight are part of GECAS’ existing order book with Airbus. CFM International is a joint venture between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines.
“Our partnership with Azul is very important to GECAS,” said Alec Burger, president and CEO of GECAS. “We are extremely proud to be a part of the next phase of Azul’s development with the delivery of this A320neo powered by state-of-the-art CFM LEAP engines.”
“This is a very special moment for us to receive our first Airbus, and we are very happy it’s from GECAS, which has been a long-term partner of Azul,” said David Neeleman, CEO of Azul.
Azul currently operates a fleet of about 120 aircraft to more than 100 destinations.
