Harrisburg's City Council Votes in Favor of Chapter 9

Local and national press reported Harrisburg’s City Council has passed a resolution to take Pennsylvania’s capital city into bankruptcy as the council voted 4-3 to file for Chapter 9.

“We know this isn’t a popular thing to do,” said Council member Brad Koplinski, who voted for bankruptcy. “We understand that, but we truly believe this is the right thing to do. I believe this is the only thing that will work.”

Tuesday night council hired Mark Schwartz, an attorney from the Philadelphia area, as its bankruptcy attorney.
