American Shipper reported that IMO2020, a global environmental rule effective January 1, 2020, could impact the trucking and shipping industries.

According to the report, IMO2020, enacted by the International Maritime Organization, a UN-sponsored agency, is “one of the most aggressive global environmental rules” enacted.

The rule will restrict emissions to less than .5% sulfur, down from the previous limit of 3.5%, according to the report.
