In Memoriam: Raquel O’Leary, AP Equipment Financing (1976 – 2024)



AP Equipment Financing issued a statement regarding the passing of Raquel O’Leary, who lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 18, 2024.

O’Leary’s career spanned over three decades, marked by her exceptional contributions and leadership in various esteemed organizations. She began her journey at Union Bank of California from 1997 – 1999 before entering the equipment finance industry at Bank of Walnut Creek as an assistant division manager in their equipment finance division from 1999 – 2005. Between the years of 2006 and 2009, she served as funding manager at firms such as Irwin Commercial Finance and First Republic Bank, then proceeded to take a hiatus to raise her and her partner’s first child.

In 2011, O’Leary joined the AP Equipment Financing team, first as an operations manager and then advancing her way up to chief operations office and chief people officer. Her role was instrumental in not only modernizing the operational side of the business, but also fundamental in building the culture that AP prides itself on. At AP, she was an influential business leader to many individuals who called her friend, colleague and mentor. Raquel left AP in 2021 to pursue social endeavors in the local community of Bend, OR.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, O’Leary was deeply admired for her unwavering commitment to helping others. Her positive influence extended far beyond her corporate career, touching the lives of countless colleagues and friends. O’Leary’s legacy is one of compassion, generosity, mindfulness and an amazingly positive spirit that inspired everyone she encountered.

Her passing is a monumental loss to all communities, where she was not only a natural leader but also a mentor and a friend to many. O’Leary’s impact will be felt for years to come, and she will be remembered for her remarkable achievements and her kind heart.

She is survived by her spouse, two children, and a far-reaching community of family and friends.
