Jobless Claims Drop to Lowest Level in Seven Years



According to report issued by the Labor Department, jobless claims fell by 6,000 to 312,000 in the week ending June 14.

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending June 7 was 2.56 million, a decrease of 54,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The Labor Department said this is the lowest level for insured unemployment since October 13, 2007 when it was 2.54 million.

The 4-week moving average was 2.61 million, a decrease of 21,750 from the previous week’s revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since November 3, 2007 when it was 2.59 million.
