Moritt Hock & Hamroff Bolsters M&A and Tax Practices



Moritt Hock & Hamroff expanded its New York City and Garden City, NJ, offices with the addition of three former Warshaw Burstein attorneys, with Michael B. Kaufman joining as a partner and chair of the firm’s tax practice group, Brian C. Daughney joining as a partner in its corporate, M&A and securities practice group; and Murray D. Schwartz joining as senior counsel.

The announcement follows the recent expansion of the firm’s presence in Southeast Florida with the opening of a new office in the Fort Lauderdale, FL, metro area and the hiring of four attorneys in the region.

Kaufman has experience providing clients with advice in connection with U.S. federal income taxes.  He regularly assists clients with corporate and international tax matters and tax-free reorganizations, as well as with structuring international joint ventures and cross-border transaction in addition to partnership tax issues and fund formation and structuring. He also lends his expertise to tax-related matters in connection with mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, stock purchases and sales, asset purchases and sales, and debt and equity offerings.

Daughney provides guidance to his clients with respect to mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, general corporate law and broker-dealer regulation. Daughney also represents issuers and investors in a range of corporate transactions, including securities offerings, seed capital offerings, venture capital financings and other forms of private equity investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and recapitalizations and spin-outs. He previously served as the mayor of the village of Garden City, NJ, from 2017 to 2019.

Schwartz has more than 40 years of experience handling all facets of complex corporate related matters and 15 years of experience as a chief operating officer of a $700 million media company. He serves several companies as their regular corporate counsel and provides advice on myriad issues, including real estate, employment, trademark and copyright licensing.
