NEFA Releases First Mobile App for Funding Symposium

The National Equipment Finance Association (NEFA) has launched a mobile specific website, www.FundingSymposium.org, related to its upcoming 2011 Funding Symposium, September 15-17, in Minneapolis, MN.

The site, targeting users of iPhones, Android phones, Blackberry phones and other smartphones and web-enabled mobile devices, will track the development and planning of the conference as well as provide up-to-the-minute onsite information for attendees during the conference.

“For our sponsors and exhibitors, it’s a chance to get their information into the hands – literally into the hands – of potential attendees well ahead of the conference, keep it up to date through the conference, and keep it readily available to them long after the conference,” said Gerry Egan, executive director of NEFA.

“Mobile conference sites are popular in lots of industries,” said Egan, “but have not been widely used in ours. Many years ago, as a volunteer officer with NAELB, I promoted some of the first use in our industry of online discussion boards to connect association members and of streaming media to deliver educational content. Now, as executive director of NEFA, I want to be sure we’re using the most relevant and convenient tools today to deliver timely information to our members and to the industry at large. Our members are busy people, who stay on the go, and most depend on mobile devices to stay in touch. Reaching them through those devices is not only convenient for them and for the association, using them for the conference information will also save a lot of paper which has to be a good thing.”

NEFA president, Chris Enbom of Allegiant Partners, said, “We continue to try new and innovative ways to communicate with our members and with the industry at large. This mobile website allows us to make our members and industry friends a part of the planning process by keeping them informed as our 2011 Funding Symposium takes shape. Once at the conference, attendees will have immediate access to up to the minute schedule changes, exhibitor information and everything else they’ll need without us wasting a lot of printed paper. It’s green and it’s effective. I feel that’s a win/win for our members and for our industry.”
