October Business Jet Activity Reaches Highest Levels Since 2007



According to data from ARGUS TRAQPak, business jet activity in October reached its highest levels since 2007, finishing up 4.8% compared to September.

Results by operational category were positive across the board, with Part 135 operators recording the largest month-over-month increase (5.2%). The Part 91 market recorded a monthly rise of at least 3% in every aircraft category to finish the month up 4.6%, while the Fractional market saw an increase of 4.4%.

Looking at the aircraft categories, the mid-size cabin market posted the biggest increase from September, up 7.5%, while large cabin aircraft posted a gain of 6%. The turboprop and small cabin markets posted increases of 2.8% and 3.8%, respectively. The largest monthly gain occurred in the Part 135 mid-size cabin segment, which was up 9.2% from September.

Reviewing year-over-year flight activity, TRAQPak data indicates that October 2015 posted an increase of 0.2%, whichthis missed TRAQPak’s forecasted yearly rise of 2.7%. The results by operational category continue to show growth on top of growth in the Part 135 industry, with a year-over-year increase of 3.2%. The Part 91 market recorded a slight decline from 2014, down 0.4%, while the Fractional market continued its run in the red for the third month in a row as it was down 5.1%.

Flight activity by aircraft category was positive at the top and bottom of the industry, with the turboprop market posting its eighth consecutive year-over-year increase (2.2%) to lead the way. Large cabin aircraft posted another yearly increase in flight activity, up 1.2%. Small and mid-size cabin aircraft posted yearly flight activity drops of 1.% and 1.5%, respectively. The largest year-over-year gain for an individual segment occurred in the Part 135 turboprop segment, which saw an increase of 8.8%.

ARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada.
