Reuters: General Electric Considers Sale of GECAS Leasing Unit

Reuters reported General Electric is considering the future of GE Capital Aviation Services, including the divestiture of the business.

Reuters, according to its sources, noted GECAS’s competitors have shown an interest in acquiring the aircraft lessor.

Based on recent financials, GECAS earned $369 million in Q2/17, representing a 61% share of the total for the GE Capital segment, which included Energy Financial Services and Industrial Finance. GECAS segment assets were approximately $40 billion, or about 53%, of the total assets of the segment (not considering “other,” “other continuing” or “assets of discontinued operations”).
