Ritchie Bros. Holds Record-Breaking Auction in Tipton, CA

The record-breaking selection of equipment at Ritchie Bros. auction in Tipton, CA last week brought out huge crowds and helped the company set a new Tipton site sales record.

In total, more than 2,200 equipment items and trucks were sold in the February 16 auction for more than $22 million.

Approximately 3,950 bidders from 38 countries registered to participate in the Tipton auction, including more than 2,600 online bidders who purchased more than $9 million of the equipment. U.S. bidders purchased approximately 90% of the equipment in the auction, including 56% purchased by California buyers. International bidders from such countries as Ecuador, Belgium and New Zealand purchased 10% of the equipment.

“We signed some large, late model and diverse packages of equipment from local dealerships early, helping us attract a record-number of consignors for this Tipton auction,” said Chad Apland, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. “We saw huge attendance onsite, bolstered by the auction being held directly after World Ag Expo, as well as strong attendance online from across the U.S. and around the world. As a result, we achieved solid equipment pricing and record results. I’d like to thank all the consignors and buyers that took part in this record-breaking auction.”

Equipment was sold for more than 425 consignors. Highlights included more than 260 agricultural tractors, more than 35 headers, more than 15 swathers, more than 115 truck tractors, more than 130 trailers, more than 30 scrapers, as well as dozers, loaders and more. Every item was sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.
