Smith, Gambrell & Russell Add Russell to Global Transport Practice

Jonathan Russell joined Smith, Gambrell & Russell’s Global Transport Practice in London. Russell is the latest addition to the practice, which first opened international offices in London and Southampton, U.K. with the hire of founding partners Ben Graham-Evans, Mark Turnbull and their associate Gareth Hawes in January 2017. Since then the U.K. team has expanded to six, including a trainee solicitor and specialist aviation paralegal.

A senior associate in SGR’s Global Transport Practice, Russell is a U.K. qualified transaction lawyer specializing in the sale, purchase, financing, ownership and operation of corporate and private aircraft. He also has experience advising on the sale, purchase and financing of super-yachts.

Ranked by Chambers HNW 2017 as an associate to watch (Global-wide, Private Aircraft), Russell is also featured in the Spear’s 500 directory.

“SGR is delighted to welcome Jonathan to the firm’s London office,” Graham-Evans said. “Jonathan brings more than a decade of experience in the private and general aviation arena and having worked opposite him on transactions in recent years, we know Jonathan well. He is an excellent team player, and Mark Turnbull and I feel lucky to have him join our team in the U.K. We look forward to working with Jonathan on both private and commercial aviation related work.”

SGR’s Global Transport Practice now has more than 20 aviation attorneys globally.
