Net U.S. trailer orders totaled nearly 21,200 units in March, reflecting a 21% increase from February and a 63% rise over the same month in 2024, according to ACT Research’s latest State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers report.
“March’s net order intake puts the first quarter of 2025 tally at 62,7000 units, 29% higher than first quarter 2024 bookings,” Jennifer McNealy, Director–CV Market Research & Publications at ACT Research, said. “While good news, we caution that the industry’s annual period of seasonally stronger order months is ending, and weaker intake months are expected as we move into the late spring/summer, amid tariff uncertainty that is likely extending the ‘pause’ on ordering decisions.”
For the fifth time in the past year, orders exceeded production, with intake surpassing build by about 4,000 units. As a result, backlogs rose 4.5% from the previous month but remained 24% below levels seen in 2024.
ACT Research’s monthly report offers data on trailer market trends, including production plans, order volumes, and backlogs, segmented by trailer type. The publication includes historical data from 1996 to the present and is accompanied by a graph packet for industry analysis.
