Vmo Aircraft Leasing Adds Gan as SVP, Head of Asia-Pacific Region

Vmo Aircraft Leasing, a San Francisco-based aircraft leasing company, added Marilyn Gan as senior vice president and head of the Asia-Pacific region.

Gan will be responsible for establishing and leading Vmo Aircraft Leasing’s presence in the Asia Pacific region. She will open the firms Asia office and lead Vmo Aircraft Leasing’s business efforts in the region, identifying market opportunities and growing its presence.

“Marilyn’s deep knowledge and experience of the aviation industry, as well as her extensive relationships with aviation stakeholders throughout Asia Pacific, will be central to growing our platform’s APAC presence,” Sean Sullivan, chief commercial officer of Vmo Aircraft Leasing, said.

Gan joined Vmo Aircraft Leasing from Singapore-based MUFG Bank, where she served as managing director and head of origination for Asia Pacific aviation following the acquisition of DVB Bank’s aviation portfolio in 2019. Prior to the acquisition, Gan was managing director and regional head of Asia Pacific aviation finance for DVB Bank, with responsibility for managing the bank’s airline relationships and lending opportunities. During more than a decade at DVB Bank, she led new market development initiatives, including the bank’s entry into the Chinese financing/leasing space and its expansion into the EMEA region.

“With an eye on Asia Pacific’s expected growth trajectory, the knowledge of local markets and an established network of relationships will be key to taking advantage of the region’s future potential. Marilyn is well positioned with the right background and transactional track record to help us achieve that,” Robert Brown, CEO of Vmo Aircraft Leasing, said.

“I’m delighted to take on this new role to be a part of Vmo’s well-regarded management team and to grow our presence in Asia Pacific. Despite the challenges in today’s market, we believe that the travel and airline sector will continue to remain core to many economies globally. I look forward to working with our many prospective airline customers to deliver effective fleet solutions in this rapidly growing region,” Gan said.

Gan was elected to the board of ISTAT in 2015 and is currently serving on its executive board as the first-ever Asian woman to become a member. Gan is an active panelist at various aviation conferences and was awarded the Airfinance Journal Women of the Year award in 2019.
