Volvo Truck Deliveries Boosted 22% in May

Thanks primarily to the increase in deliveries of Volvo brand trucks; Volvo Group reported a 22% increase in North American truck deliveries in May. The strong showing by the North American market as a whole made up for a drastic downturn in South America and kept total deliveries level month-to-month globally.

Volvo Trucks, one of the brands under the Volvo Group umbrella, experienced the most progressive swing in North America, as deliveries rose by 40%, although there was a drop of 1% globally. Volvo Trucks have been moving at a prodigious rate for much of the calendar year, with a 30% increase year-to-date in the North American market.

Volvo’s other primary North American brand, Mack Trucks, did not have as successful a month, with deliveries eroding by 3%. It was a step backwards in a largely solid year of growth for the brand, which has still seen a 9% improvement year-to-date. Total Mack Truck deliveries had an incremental increase of 1% at the global level.
