According to the Wall Street Journal, the European Union will approve GE’s $17 billion acquisition of Alstom SA’s power business.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Journal said that GE offered concessions that satisfied regulators’ concerns, although such concessions were not immediately clear.

The Journal also said that GE could get approval from U.S. antitrust authorities as early as today.
