Citizens has named Marc Lubelczyk as president of its New Hampshire and Vermont markets, succeeding Joseph Carelli, who will retire effective May 2.

Lubelczyk, a New Hampshire native and longtime employee of Citizens, began his career with the bank in 1993 after graduating from the University of New Hampshire. Over the past 32 years, he has held a variety of roles in corporate banking and currently oversees a team of portfolio managers and credit analysts supporting the bank’s middle market and corporate clients.

In his new role, Lubelczyk will lead Citizens’ local strategy and community engagement efforts across both states.

“Like Citizens, Marc has deep roots in New Hampshire and Vermont, and I am excited to have a banker of his caliber guiding our team here,” Steve Woods, head of corporate banking at Citizens, said. “I’d also like to thank Joe Carelli for his outstanding leadership and steadfast commitment to our customers and clients in the region during his tenure as market president.”

Carelli retires after more than three decades at Citizens, including serving as New Hampshire and Vermont president since 2011. He has worked closely with local businesses and community leaders on initiatives related to economic development, workforce readiness and financial education.

Lubelczyk, who has worked with Carelli throughout his career, plans to continue those efforts. He lives in Merrimack, New Hampshire, and serves on the board of trustees for Waypoint, a nonprofit providing human services across the state.

He holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
