CSI Remarketing Locação de Equipamentos LTDA. (CSI Brazil), a wholly owned subsidiary of CSI Leasing, Inc., announced the acquisition of Somov Rental LTDA., previously a subsidiary of Somov S.A., part of the Sotreq Group. Somov Rental, based in São Paulo, specializes in renting forklifts primarily manufactured by Hyster-Yale and providing maintenance services for its fleet.
At the time of acquisition, Somov Rental’s fleet included nearly 2,000 electric and combustion forklifts operating across 150 plants throughout Brazil. The company also operates a 99,000-square-foot plant in Araçariguama, west of São Paulo, and employs nearly 160 people, many of whom are on-site technicians. Jairo Perini will continue managing the facility; he has been with Somov Rental for 21 years and has technical and sales management experience.
“This acquisition presents a unique opportunity for CSI Brazil to serve the forklift rental market. Somov Rental has built an exceptional business with a very loyal and diverse customer base. This comes as no surprise given that it was part of Sotreq’s portfolio,” Cesar Zarate, Country Manager of CSI Brazil, said. “Somov Rental is a great fit for CSI as our core business includes leasing IT equipment, forklifts and heavy machinery. Somov Rental’s goal is to raise results while lowering costs for customers, which is completely aligned with CSI.”
Somov Rental is in the process of being rebranded as InteliRent, with completion expected by the end of July.
