Chelsey Barron is an accomplished leader and a herald of innovation for the equipment finance space, championing a variety of causes as a Senior Vice President at LEAF. Barron views leadership as an opportunity to be a resource for others, ensuring generations of young professionals have the same personal tools to become leaders.

Barron began her career as an entry-level Support Staff Member at VAR Technology Finance and distinguished the greatest areas for opportunity in the company. After five years, she identified a gap in training for new employees and took it upon herself to design and launch a six-week onboarding program. Her initiative accelerated new-hire productivity and became a cornerstone of VAR’s growth.

During her tenure at VAR Technology Finance, Barron helped bring two major IT OEM programs to market, earning her a Director of Sales title within the firm. After LEAF acquired VAR in 2018, she oversaw both sales and operations teams while prioritizing both empathy and dedication to organizational values. This outlook on leadership would prove instrumental when Barron navigated the market turmoil of 2024, where she strengthened relationships with existing partners and situated LEAF’s technology division for unprecedented growth.

Barron predicates her leadership style on service, ensuring that everyone who needs her assistance has their questions resolved. In her view, no responsibility is beneath her if there is someone to serve. This is a viewpoint that has buoyed team morale time and time again, and her motto for leadership is, “How have I helped someone solve a problem today?” Her approach is an extension of her personal ideals, that the secret to being a successful leader is thorough and people focused service.

“What makes Chelsey so valuable to LEAF and to the equipment finance industry in general is her unique blend of integrity, work ethic and a solution-oriented mindset that brings the best out of those around her,” says LEAF Chief Sales Officer Joe Banister. “An example of this is when we asked her to take over the leadership responsibilities of one of our business units. Chelsey’s energy, deep understanding of our customers, products, systems and personnel made her an ideal candidate for this role. Combine that with her creativity, passion and willingness to take on any task, and it’s no surprise that her team reached new heights within just a short time. Barron’s core philosophy, which has carried her to the successes she is responsible for today, is that authenticity is the greatest tool that any professional can have, regardless of sector. To her, replicating the strategies of others can distract oneself from the person they are meant to become, and comparison is the enemy of progress.

“There is room at the table for all of us. Be authentic. Every moment spent trying to be someone else steals from who you were made to be. Walk confidently in your lane. You cannot live in purpose if you are trapped in comparison.”
