Dana Somma, Director of Capital Markets and Funding at MMP Capital, played a pivotal role in the firm’s $192 million inaugural securitization and continues to lead with innovation and integrity. Somma oversees funding strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives. In this role, she develops, executes and refines capital strategies that position the firm for sustained growth. Her leadership has strengthened MMP Capital’s financial footing, supported by her ability to build trusted relationships with investors, partners and colleagues.

With more than 15 years in financial services, Somma has built a career marked by integrity, innovation and results. She is recognized for combining technical expertise with a people-first philosophy, ensuring that financial solutions are sound and tailored to client needs. This balance has allowed her to cultivate meaningful, long-term relationships across the industry.

Somma began her career at Goldman Sachs. As Controller of the Equity Derivatives Trading Desk, she provided oversight and risk management in a complex market environment. Later, as Vice President in the Investment Management Division, she collaborated with senior leaders across Portfolio Management, Marketing and Business Development to launch a diverse mutual fund product line, demonstrating her ability to translate market needs into investment products that created value for investors and the firm.

After Goldman Sachs, Somma joined Par East Mortgage Company as a Mortgage Loan Originator. In that role, she built relationships with underwriters, attorneys and realtors while guiding clients to financial programs that fit their goals. During this time, she was also raising her two children and became active in her church community at St. William the Abbot in Seaford, where she co-chaired fundraising events and supported school initiatives.

At MMP Capital, Somma led the firm’s inaugural securitization, a $192 million transaction that attracted investor demand 10 times greater than the size offered. She managed communications with rating agencies, bond investors and banking partners to ensure seamless execution. John-Paul Smolenski, CEO and President of MMP Capital, says: “Dana played a pivotal role in MMP Capital’s inaugural securitization, spearheading communication efforts and directly contributing to its overwhelming success. Her professionalism, integrity and dedication make her an invaluable asset to our team and a role model within the finance community.”

Somma explains her philosophy this way: “True success isn’t just about being seen or heard — it’s about becoming the answer. When your name is mentioned not out of courtesy, but because you’re the solution people trust and turn to, you’ve stepped into real impact. That’s when recognition transforms into meaningful achievement.”

Equally important to Somma is her role as a mentor and collaborator. She is committed to developing junior colleagues and fostering a merit-based, supportive environment where every team member can thrive. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Somma is a devoted mother of two who values balancing her leadership in finance with dedication to family and community. Guided by a mission to deliver innovative results that fuel sustainable growth, she continues to influence both MMP Capital and the broader financial community with her professionalism and insight.

“True success isn’t just about being seen or heard — it’s about becoming the answer. When your name is mentioned not out of courtesy, but because you’re the solution people trust and turn to, you’ve stepped into real impact. That’s when recognition transforms into meaningful achievement.”
