Brian Haber, equipment finance asset manager at TD Equipment Finance, began his career in operations where he developed a rigorous foundation in execution, process discipline and a broad understanding of diverse asset classes. As he transitioned into Asset Management, his professional perspective underwent a significant transformation, moving from an origination-driven focus to viewing equipment finance as a long-term risk discipline anchored in residual value. Today, he approaches valuation as both an art and a science, blending data-driven analysis with real-world market insight.
Over the past 12–18 months, Haber demonstrated his commitment to operational excellence by identifying a structural gap in how historical valuation data was leveraged. He responded by developing a centralized, scalable database that consolidates historical bid data and residual valuations. He further enhanced this capability by creating a tool that evaluates required sale values to booked residuals to determine whether assets will generate gains. This project exemplifies his disciplined approach to problem-solving: introducing structure to resolve inefficiencies and providing the transparency needed for superior, informed decision-making.
Haber describes his leadership style as deliberate, transparent and resourceful. He believes that effective leadership relies on asking the right questions and pursuing clarity rather than simply possessing all the answers.
Regarding the industry’s future, Haber emphasizes that leadership development must evolve to embrace Artificial Intelligence as a core competency.
