Peggy Tomcheck, CEO of Aspen Capital Company, approaches mentoring by listening first, meeting people where they are and helping them discover their individual strengths. She believes mentoring isn’t about creating someone in your own image, but about giving people the confidence to find their own path.
“The most fulfilling part of being a mentor is helping someone recognize their potential and believe they are capable of more than they ever imagined,” Tomcheck says.
Tomcheck’s proudest mentoring success has been developing her son, Jake, into a leader at Aspen. Now in his seventh year at Aspen, Jake has earned several promotions, and Tomcheck says the mentoring has gone both ways.
