The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (NYSE: GBX) announced Wednesday that rail industry veteran Ted Baun has joined its North American Commercial Team as senior vice president and will succeed Tim Schitter as chief commercial officer in January 2026.
Baun brings over three decades of experience to Greenbrier. Most recently, he served as chief commercial officer at PNW Railcars, where he led leasing and renewal efforts for its tank and freight railcar fleet. He also spent more than 20 years at FreightCar America and its predecessor, Johnstown America, including 11 years as CCO, and previously held a senior sales role at Mitsui Rail Capital, LLC.
“We are excited to welcome Ted to Greenbrier’s leadership team,” said Brian Comstock, executive vice president and president, The Americas. “His deep railcar manufacturing and leasing expertise make him an ideal fit for the CCO role. Ted’s business acumen and industry knowledge will help us enhance our offerings, grow our lease fleet and strengthen customer experience.”
Comstock also thanked Schitter, who will retire at the end of the year, for his 11 years of service and contributions to the company.
“I am honored to join Greenbrier and help expand its leadership in railroad transportation products and services,” Baun said. “Greenbrier has a strong legacy of innovation and customer excellence, and I look forward to leading this outstanding team into its next chapter.”
