Used agricultural equipment inventories continued to tighten across several major categories in August, according to Sandhills Global’s latest agricultural equipment market data. High-horsepower tractors, combines, planters and self-propelled forage harvesters all posted year-over-year inventory declines, while compact and utility tractor inventories also remained well below 2025 levels. At the same time, asking and auction values generally moved higher, particularly for tractors and planters. Sprayers were a notable exception, with values continuing to trend lower. The data points to a market where declining availability is supporting equipment values, although trends remain mixed depending on the equipment category.

  • Inventory levels in the used high-HP tractor market decreased 0.96% M/M in August and were 15.49% lower than last year. Inventory levels in this market are trending down, continuing a pattern that has persisted for several months. Used 175-to-299-HP tractors had the largest M/M inventory change, down 1.73%, while used 100-to-174-HP tractors had the largest Y/Y inventory change, down 20.43%.
