Lauren Hill
Managing Director
Alvarez and Marsal Valuation

With more than 35 years of valuation experience, Lauren Hill is a key member of Alvarez and Marsal (A&M), specializing in the valuation of equipment and facilities for leasing and finance purposes. While now focused on renewable energy projects, she has valued a wide range of equipment, including automobile manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing, energy projects, food and beverage and chemical processing plants, flour and ingredient mix mills, dairy, communications, television and radio broadcasting, textile and apparel plants, rubber, plastics and glass production, medical, construction, mining, intermodal, railroad and trucking.

Prior to joining A&M, Hill spent more than four years with Mesirow Financial Consulting in New York. She managed the company’s structured finance valuation practice as senior vice president. Previously, she spent one year with Navigant Capital Advisors as the company’s director with the structured finance group, two years as a managing director for North American Operations of Lease Valuation International and six years as a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche Valuation. In these capacities, she was responsible for managing and performing valuation projects for the leasing industry.

Today, with years of experience under her belt, Hill is a key member of the A&M team. She makes a continuous effort to provide reliable, thoughtful and ethical advice to build trust and long-term relationships with clients. She also emphasizes the principle of integrity and client well-being above all else for herself and her team.

Hill has shown incredible resilience and determination throughout her career. She has overcome multiple challenges through the years and has navigated roadblocks that posed a threat to progress. She believes these hurdles provide opportunistic paths to new and better outcomes. With this progressive and positivist view of industry challenges, Hill has mobilized much success in her personal endeavors, as well as for A&M Valuation as a whole.

“Lauren has become one of the leading experts in the valuation of renewable energy machinery and equipment, sought after by many of the leading developers and investors in the industry,” Malcolm Wright, managing director at A&M Valuation Services, says. “Not only that, but she is also building the next generation of appraisers within her practice, which will be her true legacy to the industry.”

Hill is passionate about empowering women in the industry. She leads what she calls one of the most diverse teams in her field and is committed to mentoring other women to advance their careers. In tandem with these efforts, Hill created the first women in equipment management luncheon and has served on the board of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA). She is also a past chair and member of the ELFA’s Equipment Management Committee. Currently, she contributes her expertise in renewable energy as a member of the ELFA Climate Finance Committee. Hill is a sought-after speaker at renewable energy and finance industry conferences and has authored numerous articles in industry publications, covering topics such as solar projects, valuation issues and equipment
management.

Developing a highly capable and dedicated team is a cornerstone of Hill’s career accomplishments, as well as creating a practice focused on inclusion and mentoring with a diverse group. Despite pushback from others, she was one of the first in the industry to promote events focused on women, and she continues to serve as a mentor to developing and existing talent in the industry to this day. •
