Sales Manager – Equipment Leasing

Orange County, CA

Our client is a leading independent equipment leasing company that is looking for a battle-tested Sales Manager to lead and develop a team of high-performing Account Managers. This is a seat at the leadership table — for someone who has already proven they manage a sales team successfully, can close complex, large-ticket deals and is ready to multiply that success through a team.

You’ll drive revenue performance across manufacturing, construction, aviation, and other key verticals, with average transaction sizes exceeding $2.0M and top producers earning $500,000+ annually. If you have the deal experience, leadership instincts, and competitive fire to build and run a world-class sales operation, this is your platform.

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & Development

  • Help build, lead, coach, and mentor a new sales team of Account Managers and Senior Account Managers.
  • Conduct weekly pipeline reviews and regular one-on-one coaching sessions focused on prospecting, deal strategy, and closing techniques.
  • You’ll have genuine input into team composition, territory strategy, and how you run your operation.
  • Deliver a minimum of 4 hours per month of formal sales and product training for your team.
  • Spend dedicated time alongside reps — modeling prospecting, account development, and territory strategy.
  • Identify and develop top talent for promotion into Senior Account Manager and Vice President roles.

Revenue & Pipeline Management

  • Own and drive achievement of quarterly and annual team sales targets.
  • Maintain deep familiarity with your team’s top prospects — decision makers, deal strategy, and pipeline status.
  • Ensure consistent deal follow-up on all closed transactions above $1MM through final funding.
  • Forecast accurately and deliver reliable pipeline reporting to senior leadership.
  • Identify market opportunities across industries including manufacturing, construction, energy, healthcare, transportation, and aviation.

Deal Strategy & Execution

  • Engage directly on complex, high-value transactions — providing strategic guidance on structure, pricing, and risk.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, balance sheets, and credit profiles to support deal underwriting and approval.
  • Collaborate with credit, legal, syndication, and documentation teams to drive deals to close.
  • Navigate complex deal structures including sale-leasebacks, project finance, and syndicated transactions.
  • Engage CFOs, CEOs, Presidents, and VPs of Finance at mid-sized to large enterprises.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of sales experience in equipment finance, commercial lending, or leasing — with a proven track record of managing a successful sales team, and closing complex, large-ticket transactions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience — you’ve led, coached, or mentored a sales team and driven measurable results.
  • Deep knowledge of equipment finance structures, lease and loan products, credit analysis, and deal execution.
  • Executive presence and the ability to engage confidently at the C-suite level.
  • Strong financial acumen — comfortable spreading and analyzing P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flows, and credit risk and conducting successful mid-sale calls.
  • Exceptional communication skills — written, verbal, and in front of a room.
  • Work experience within a leasing company, bank, or commercial finance organization processing complex transactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
